Introduction

Active Sports working together with Adventure on Wheels Ltd, are providers of outdoor activities and tours at their best, to industry, education and the general public.

'Active Sports' specialise in outdoor activities, and  has been operating in the heart of the Scottish Borders for some 17 years, whilst Adventure on Wheels ltd our new enterprise focuses mainly on Motorcycle Tours throughout Scotland.

We have a wealth of experience and qualifications within the companies spanning over 27 different activities. Our staff are selected for their high level of personal motivation, experience, empathy and qualifications. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds, principally in industry and education.

Our philosophy is based on two simple beliefs. First of all, that everyone is capable of achieving more than they might realise, and secondly that too few people have a real appreciation of what can be achieved by teamwork and mutual support.

Course Aims

Our courses are mainly based on the following syllabus but stretched over different durations:

1. Introductions followed by candidates aims and course aims.
2. Equipment inspection and familiarisation: What we have and why we have it / Trying it out / What to buy next.
3. Skills: Back to basics / Enhancing on what you have / Skills development / Advanced techniques.
4. How to self-coach.
5. Maintenance: How to keep maintenance to a minimum / Tools for the job and how to use them.

Public Transport

The nearest railway stations are Edinburgh (41 miles); Carlisle (56 miles), Lockerbie (53 miles) and Berwick (40 miles).

Bus services are available to Selkirk from Carlisle, Edinburgh and Berwick. There are no bus services from Lockerbie.
