(minimum age 18)

Duration:
Approximately
4-7
hours
The program starts with an
introduction to the All Terrain Vehicles, then intense training on the safe use of an
A.T.V. over rough terrain.
After a short break
(refreshments/lunch can be provided by Active Sports, at extra cost, to suit
your requirements) we head off south across the Glendearg “Plains” on
our way to the rolling hills overlooking the Border town of Galashiels.
As your journey progresses,
more demands are placed on your newly found skills as the terrain becomes more
challenging.
Although not as technically difficult as the Gilmanscleuch
Scramble, the Glendearg Safari still requires caution and respect as some
of the terrain is in fact steep and rutted. Nevertheless, the typical Borders scenery is no less
rewarding. As we
continue our safari in a northerly direction we find ourselves level with
the summits of most of the surrounding hills, 1100 feet; stop for a moment and
enjoy!
Our
descent to the Allan Water takes in the “Watering Hole”, a natural quarry
with a very uninviting, murky pool ready to devour the unwary. Catch your
breath, because if conditions permit, we climb the “Vulture’s Brae”,
once at the top, we make our way to the “Gun Barrel” – shoot down
one side, and shoot up the other!
Depending on your choice of safari, we either head back to base
camp or we move on to the Allan Water and, again if conditions and
abilities permit, we run the river under the road, returning to terra firma
but for how long? As the safarists find themselves to the northeast of
Glendearg, they must follow the river to return to base camp where, on
arrival, we can look forward to a Glendearg Sizzlin’ Piggy – not
included, prices on enquiry - or a swim/sauna and buffet at our activity centre
at Whitmuir Hall - again not included, prices on enquiry. WHAT
AN OUTSTANDING DAY!
It’s a full day
(approximately 4 - 7 hours) and no other company in the country offers
such an adventure! Although some of the terrain is steep and dangerous it is
relatively safe for those trained in the safe and proper handling of an
A.T.V.
The beauty of the Glendearg
Safari is that we can tailor it to suit most groups’ budgets, abilities and their available time.
