Programme for the Borders Brace

Friday Evening: 7.30 pm, meet at Whitmuir Hall, (or other pre-arranged accommodation) near Selkirk for a get to know each other cup of tea or coffee, followed by a relaxing swim, sauna (if staying at W.H.) and dinner at 8 pm.  Transport to Selkirk can be arranged for anyone requiring liquid refreshment!

Saturday Morning: 8 am, full Scottish breakfast, leaving at 9 am with a fuel stop if necessary at Selkirk.  We then travel westwards following some of the Borders' most meandering valleys to the small beginnings of the River Tweed and on to Moffat. This takes us across to the Dumfries and Galloway region using quiet rural roads passing through many small villages, stopping for lunch at an appropriate hostelry. We return to Whitmuir Hall by Eskdalemuir and the Samye Ling Buddhist Temple and back to Selkirk on the A7.  The evening follows a similar format to Friday's, again transport to Selkirk can be arranged.

Sunday Morning: 8 am, full Scottish breakfast, leaving at 9 am, optional fuel stop if required.  We're heading for the coast today, this time the roads are more open, taking in rural towns and villages, including Kelso and  Abbey St Bathans and on towards the A1 on the east coast (remember your  bucket and spade!) visiting Eyemouth.  After lunch there is the option to head directly home (via A1) or return to Whitmuir Hall, either to go home from there or stay another night to leave on Monday after breakfast, depending on your length of stay.  Moving inland, the return journey is by Duns, then westwards to the A68, and south back to Whitmuir Hall.

Please note that we have much more information, including prices, available on our CD and considerably much more when you make your booking, the above information is just a taster!

General Information

The theme of all our tours on Scotland's country roads is for a relaxed and unhurried trip, taking in local scenery and points of interest.  The nature of the roads on our chosen trips does not encourage "speeding bullets" so we're promoting a sedate, leisurely introduction to the Borders.
