Looking on into the Yarrow Valley from Witchie Knowe

Programme for the Borders Brace

General Information: The tour begins at our head office in Melrose, taking time to stop and enjoy several points of interest within the Borderlands and beyond. The theme of all our tours on Scotland's country roads is for a relaxed and unhurried trip, enjoying local scenery and popular historic sites.  We try to run at a pace to suit all within the group but appreciate that some may wish to go faster than others and will endeavour to accommodate such riders on appropriate sections of the tour.

Dining out: We are always happy to advise on where to dine but prefer us to eat together as a group.

The West March 135 miles approx (Day 1): 8 am, full Scottish breakfast, leaving at 9 am with a fuel stop if necessary at Selkirk. We then travel westwards following some of the Borders' most meandering valleys to the small beginnings of the River Tweed and on to Moffat. This takes us across to the Dumfries and Galloway region using quiet rural roads passing through many small villages, stopping for lunch at an appropriate hostelry. We return to the central Borders by Eskdalemuir and the Samye Ling Buddhist Temple and then back to Melrose.

The East March 185 miles approx (Day 2): 8 am, full Scottish breakfast, leaving at 9 am, optional fuel stop if required.  We're heading for the coast today, this time the roads are more open, taking in rural towns and villages, including Kelso and  Abbey St Bathans and on towards the A1 on the east coast (remember your  bucket and spade!) visiting the Eyemouth area.  After lunch there is the option to head directly home (via A1) or return to Melrose.
