This is a very popular two day introduction to motorcycle touring in Scotland with an emphasis on how to improve  your driving. The course is specifically designed for those who have just passed their test, but easily adapted to cater for the motorcyclist with more mileage experience. (It's a great two days away on the bike, with like minded bikers, learning new exciting bike skills and driving some great Scottish roads.)

ITOT One Day North. 250 miles, approximately.

We start our day in the south east of Scotland, the Scottish Borders, "Sir Walter Scott Country".

Our normal gathering point is our head office, Chain Bridge Cottage, in Melrose.  We have several routes that we use depending on where our clients come from, and their individual requirements . If you live south of Edinburgh, we tend to use our northerly routes, if you live north of Edinburgh we tend to use our westerly routes.

The following route is only one example.

"The Grouse Chase" 

We travel north via the Gala Water road, great to get you into the swing of things, and on up to Edinburgh, over the Forth Road Bridge, following the motorway before turning off, heading for our first glen, "Glen Devon".

Crossing the bridge can be a very windy experience, if the winds are too strong we will divert to Kincardine.

After a refreshment stop, we run from Glen to Glen till we arrive at the Famous Grouse Distillery. (Remember, we are driving.)

The next part of our trip takes us over the summits to "Glen Dochart". When the weather is good, we will see breath-taking scenery, possibly deer and eagles, good for photo stops. The roads we take on this section of our trip may be a challenge to some riders with short, tight, steep, narrow hairpin bends. These roads require your utmost attention. There are alternative routes if conditions and abilities are not adequate.

From "Glen Dochart" we start our way south, home to the Borders.

After passing their bike test, most motorcyclists don't develop new skills, they simply become complacent and confident in the lower-end skills they were trained in to pass their test. This makes them a more confident biker but not a safer and better biker. Does this apply to anyone you know?
