ADVENTURE ON WHEELS

Two Ferries To Oban 215 Mls Approx

Adventure on Wheels Ltd working together with Active Sports, are providers of tours and recreation at their best, providing activities with adventure, over Land and Water to industry, education, and the general public.

Two Ferries to Oban (215 miles, approx)

This is full day tour taking in some of the Scotland's most scenic valleys, rivers and lochs.

From Oban our trip options are endless, we can head back south to the Scottish Borders via Glencoe or discover the Highlands and Islands. The choice is yours.

Starting from our base in the Borders, "Sir Walter Scott Country", we cross over to the west of Scotland, into Ayrshire, "Rabbie Burns Country", and then on to Argyll and Bute (Western Highlands) finishing at Oban, the gateway to the Islands stopping as required for refreshments/fuel and to admire the scenery.

Our first ferry takes us across the Firth of Clyde to Argyll and Bute.  The next part of our trip takes us over summits and up and down glens with breath taking scenery (weather permitting). These roads are steep and narrow in places so care must be taken, but it's well worth it for the views and the experience, and we shortly embark on our second ferry.

Back on dry land our destination is Oban and our accommodation. The accommodation we use depends greatly on the time of year and availability. Prices vary dramatically so we will give you a detailed cost with confirmation of your booking. As a rough guide B&B will cost around £55 per head.

Within Oban the most outstanding feature is McCaig's Tower, more usually and  descriptively called McCaig's Folly, that stands above the town The tower was built by a local banker, unsurprisingly called McCaig, in 1897, the aim was  to provide work for local stonemasons and provide a lasting monument to his family.

The next day's trip depends on what you have booked with us, but from Oban we have endless options!

Please note that we have much more information including prices available on our CD and considerably much more when you make your booking, the above information is just a taster!

General Information

The theme of all our tours on Scotland's country roads is for a relaxed and unhurried trip, taking in local scenery and points of interest.  The nature of the roads on our chosen trips does not encourage "speeding bullets" so we're promoting a sedate, leisurely introduction to Scotland.

Two Ferries to Oban can be incorporated into many of our Highland routes.

Prices for individual or joint tours are available on enquiry; accommodation options and costs can also be made available on request, if required.

For information on bike/equipment hire and other conditions of the tours, please refer to our Motor Cycle Tours home page.
